Virgin Mary “Galatousa”

In Vati, as well as in each and every village of Rhodes, people honor and celebrate Virgin Mary that was given the name “Galatousa” [nursing] from a rare 14^th century icon that depicts Her breastfeeding Jesus. The villagers stand ready to welcome and treat people from all over the island and tourists alike with local delicacies, music and dance.
